In 2004 Barry Dunn joined a church softball team and met Ryun Forsman. Ryun had been grilling for a while but had recently been obsessed with a smoker that someone had given him.

Barry took a trip to Atlanta to visit some friends and they introduced him to “The Big Green Egg”. Ryun had a Super bowl party and invited Barry, and when he got there Barry helped pull the pork. Since Barry was about to get a Big Green Egg they discussed their love of barbecue and a good friendship began.

Any get together was a chance for Barry or Ryun to barbecue and a chance for Barry and Ryun to discuss their obsession. Barry used his Big Green Egg any chance he got and Ryun was trying to perfect smoking traditional style. Having a lot of hungry friends to feast off the food, many encouraged a Man vs. Man cook off so they could compare styles.

They first discussed a barbecue storefront, which would offer sauces, rubs, and equipment. Then one day they decided to join forces for an event and it got them thinking. They put their two styles together and came up with some recipes, and a business was born.

All for the love of barbecue.

Barry lives with his wife and son in Sarasota, Florida. He makes appearances at The Ocala Egg Fest every year and does a killer pork pizza.

Ryun also lives in Sarasota with his wife and 2 children. He loves the smell of charcoal in the morning.
